How to Texture a Ceiling Or Wall

When adding cold water to mix down the texture coating to the required consistency, just add a miniature at a time, as it is not advisable to add powder at this later stage.

The ended stock should now look thick emulsion paint.

Next step: rule where to start the pattern onto the ceiling.

Usually, when attempting the stipple succeed the best place to start is furthest away from the room door entrance.

1: Using the large paint roller, attached to the pole/handle, dip the roller head completely into the pail of mixed texture, to completely cover the roller head. (You can also use a small roller for application if you want.)

6: When you've completed this; and using the roller again, (but don't load it with texture mix this time), continue to roll out, in the opposite direction of the applied texture, to even out (spread out) the texture coating already applied to the ceiling, otherwise you'll have an uneven finish when you come to stipple it: the thickness of the texture on the ceiling should be about half an inch in depth.

7: The next step is to prime the stipple brush with the mixed texture coating, you can use a large or small stipple brush; but you will get a more uniformed pattern with a large brush, especially if your texturing larger surfaces, development sure a wooden handle is attached to the large stipple brush so that you can reach the ceiling height.

(Going to the room door entrance to take a look every now and again, and don't forget, what you can see, so will others-make any adjustments as necessary)

8: Finally, run an inch sized brush colse to the perimeter of the ceiling to wall line to generate a tidy border, and not forgetting the centre rose light also, to tidy up.
You can also use a small stipple brush to generate this design, but if you're using the large brush, it seems easier to generate a more uniformed finish.

The stipple pattern can also be created by just rolling the texture coating onto the covering and then keep rolling the mix out with the roller head until a stipple type pattern is at last formed.

If you want a heavier stipple effect, mix the thick texture down with cold water as general but do not add as much water so that you are left with a thicker consistency in the bucket, and then roll this combination onto the surface, thickly.

It only takes a few items to make a nice mount that will last and last. It's made from something you would ordinarily throw away:

Enough cotton balls or enough stuffing to fill the container

A bit of cooking oil

This is probably the simplest project I've ever made and maybe the most beautiful. Let's get started!!

Step 1. Clean the lunch meat container inside and out so there are no greasy spots left on it.

While wet peel off as much of the label off the front town and front of the back flap as possible. Then rub a little cooking oil on the glue to dissolve it. Let this sit a few hours or overnight. Then scrub off as much of the oil and old glue as you can without scratching up the town of your package.

Step 2. When you have it all cleaned, with no more labels, glue or oil left on it you are ready to use it.Place your butterfly or what have you in the town of the container and stuff it with what ever kind of stuffing you've chosen. Try to keep your object centered as you are stuffing the package.

Step 3. After you have everything inside, add a moth ball or some herbs to the back of the package. Put the back on the front of the container and staple it shut on the top and bottom.

Step 4. You can hang it on a nail in your hallway or use a thumbtack to hang it by your desk, since there is a ready made hole in most of these packaging from the store.

Craft Show Organizing 101

You've done it! You've signed up to do a craft show....now what! Where do you start? This is a dilemma most first time craft show participants (sometimes even us veterans) feel shortly before the show. I am going to give you a few basic tips and some tricks of the trade to help make your show go smoothly and hopefully successfully.

The first and most prominent thing is to be sure to read the rules and regulations of the show. The last thing you want to do is show up and set your table up with fancy lighting only to find out that you weren't allowed to use 1000 strings of lights. Take just note of whether or not they provide an electric source, exactly how much space you are allowed to use and whether there are any display restrictions.

Electric Stapler

While you are making ready your display area, it is a great idea to tape off the size of your allotted space whether in your basement or stable (use your living room if you have to) and set up your entire display prior to going to your show. Especially if it's your first show. Be creative! A flat table with your hard work displayed on it isn't going to draw much attention. A nice display doesn't have to be expensive either. Cover some shoes boxes with fabric, get some plastic crates and put some moss and twigs around them, use small shelving units you can pick up cheap at a allowance store...use your imagination. Scatter smaller items randomly throughout your display, people are more likely to notice a small item they see some times rather than many small items in a basket.

Once you have your display set up how you like it, you now have everything you will need for the show right there and ready to pack. You will be less likely to forget things this way too. Label your boxes or totes and load them into your vehicle in the order that you'll need them. You won't need that box of bracelets before you need the box with the table decorations. Some other items you will want to bring are: tissue paper to wrap your items in (even if they aren't fragile, some people prefer to have their stuff wrapped); bags to put sold items in; shims (you never want a wobbly table); scissor, tape, extra pens; markers; sales pads; tape measure; string; glue; first aid kit; extra price tags; rubber bands; paper clips; mints; copy of your inventory; small stapler; screwdriver; small hammer; firm cards; firm card holder; prolongation cords; extra bulbs; power strips; duct tape (tape cords down); notepad; calculator; display wire; a sign with your firm name; and a copy of your sales tax certificate. I know some of it sounds strange, but you'd be surprised.

Now, for yourself, you are going to want to bring some things too. Aspirin, tissues, paper towels, camera (take a photo of your booth after its set up); cooler with soda and water; small snacks; comfortable shoes; cell phone; chair cushion; deodorant; extra socks; jacket or sweater; sunscreen; water bottle; wet wipes; and extra convert of clothes (you never know what could happen) and a Great attitude. I also recommend buying an cheap canvas apron and sewing or fashioning some pockets that can be Velcro'd shut to put your money in. That way you are more free to move around and not tied to a table. Make sure you bring fullness of change. It is a good idea to price your items to contain tax and round up to the nearest dollar - that way you don't have to worry about coins.

Another great thing to have is a guestbook. You can make your own or use one similar to those you see at wedding receptions. It's a great way to sign people up for your mailing list. You might think about having samples to give away with your firm card attached. Everyone likes something for free. If you do a newsletter, print some to give out in your merchandise bags.

building Small Boats For Fun Or behalf

Many people have taken up building small boats for satisfaction or as a money-making hobby. Some people get therapeutic results by having a woodworking scheme which they spend their spare time building. There's something relaxing about creating a boat in your garage, on your own time. No deadlines. No boss telling you what to do. It's all up to you how to do it and when to do it. And when you conclude your boat, there's the pride of seeing it and showing off your creation to friends and family. Then, finally, there's the joy of launching it into your beloved lake or river!

I have personally been involved in building three boats in my lifetime. The first one I built as an 8th grade woodshop project. I have to admit, it was a miniature fantastic at that age, but, with a miniature encouragement from my dad, I did conclude it before the school year ended. The make was a straightforward 6-7 foot, plywood dinghy style boat. I have to admit, my brothers and I spent many hours floating around in it after it was completed! (Yes, it did float!)

The second boat building caress was during my senior year in high school. Again in woodshop, our whole class built a wooden drift boat. It was a miniature more involved than my first boat, but I was older and we had the management of our shop teacher. It turned out gorgeous and we all enjoyed the process and learned much about boat building.

My newest boat building scheme is a 16 foot wood strip canoe. I'm verily still working on it. It's about halfway done and I hope to wrap it up before summer's over, so I can put her in a lake and show her off to the world! building this canoe has truly been fun and relaxing as a side hobby. I would propose it to anyone.

Building your own small boat doesn't want a lot of special woodworking skills or fancy tools. I got by with a straightforward tablesaw, electric sander, block plane, wood rasp, a few clamps, hand stapler, and a hammer. It's a full day excursion that runs from the resorts in Puerto Plata, Punta Cana and Casa de Campo in La Romana. people staying in Punta Cana get picked up in the morning in an air conditioned bus from the resorts and from there they go to the city of Higuey (about 45 minutes from Punta Cana). The excursion really starts in Higuey where the Monster Trucks await. These are huge, second hand military trucks (built in the 1960s by Ford Motor firm and used in the Vietnam War) which have been imported from the United States and customized for safe communication of people. The trucks whether have a side entry where people get on and off by climbing a 5 step ladder or they have a back entry with a staircase. The trucks seat between 28 and 32 passengers on rows of 5 passengers - all rows have padded seats for relieve and seatbelts for safety. All passengers are seated facing forward for the best views of the scenery. The wheels of the Monster Truck are the size of a baby elephant and are shock absorbent to minimize the effects of the bumps in the roads...however; it will still be a bumpy ride as you go off the beaten track in the countryside and mountain areas.

Staff includes a certified driver, a certified bartender (open bar with water, soft drinks, beer and rum is included throughout the day) and a certified tour guide will be with you on the truck. The excursion can be done in English, Spanish, German and Dutch.

What does the tour include?

On the Monster Truck Safari tour you'll see abundance of engaging things and visit places you wouldn't otherwise go to. The stops along the route include:

- A typical Dominican home in the country side: Lots of Dominican people live like any other person would in the Us or Europe, but many still live in former wooden houses and sometimes with no running water and no electricity. Their kitchens are commonly separated from the house and food is cooked over a fireplace. Their bathroom/toilet is also settled apart from the house.

- A cockfighting arena: This is typically a controversial branch for many tourists as cockfighting is illegal in many parts of the world. However, it's a big part of the Dominican culture. Recommended donations are pencils, pencil sharpeners, erasers, pens, notebooks, crayons, coloring books, paint and brushes, scissors, toothbrushes and toothpaste, chalk and chalk brushes, calculators, staplers, first aid kits, etc. Not recommended: Money and candy! Although many people feel the need to help the children and poor families by giving money, it is not recommended because it might push the children to wait on the streets for the Monster truck to come by knowing they might get money instead of going to school.
